Plaqate Medical has won second place in the Undergraduate Medical Device Track of the Johns Hopkins University Business Plan Competition. The competition took place April 1, 2016 in Hodson Hall at the Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus.
From the JHU BPC website, "The nationally recognized Johns Hopkins University Business Plan Competition, hosted by the Center for Leadership Education, provides an opportunity for students to take a novel idea or innovative technology and develop a business plan based around it. Starting with a concept, students build an understanding of their target market, analyze potential competitors, craft an effective market entry strategy, and present their plans to industry professionals and venture capitalists."
The competition required a seven minute presentation with a seven minute Q&A. Team member Scott Sterrett and leader Caitlin Romanczyk presented at the competition, while other team members Quinn Salditch, Clay Andrews, Ananya Gupta, and Zack Buono were present for the Q&A portion.
The team will use the winnings to continue the project through the summer with hopes to license in the future.
